Clear pastel tones, slowly fusing shades and fantastic views of mirages so unique to the Gobi Desert have become the inspiration for artist Sendem Choijamts.
Her collection of light scarves and silk dresses called "Silk Gobi Desert." Shown a year ago at an art exhibition in Rouan, France, it virtually stole the hearts of French viewers.
Even Pierre Cardin, a renowned French fashion designer who saw Sendem's works on his visit to Mongolia two years ago, highly recommended her to set up her own boutique.
Sendem is one of young Mongolian artists experimenting with new materials offering a different ways of expression.
Though she successfully worked with cashmere and leather before, she found anew inspiration in the art of silk painting.
Within few years she become a very popular batik designer enjoying a close but faithful circle of regular clients.
"Of course, I wish to make many silk clothes for all women, but right now mostly foreigners are buying them because each dress or scarf is a hand made, unique work of art... not many can afford to buy," says the artist.
