Mongolian Women as Seen by Munkhtsetseg

J. Munkhtsetseg (Eternal Flower), 32, graduated from the Fine Arts College in Ulan Bator and later on from the Academy of Theater in Belorussia.

In 1995 she was awarded the Mongolian Union of Artists' special prize. She displayed personal exhibitions in South Korea, Singapore.

The paintings below have been shown at the recent "Dream of Capricorn" exhibition.

Her style is very distinctive especially when the latest fad is for modernism or extreme nationalism.

"I paint as I see. My teacher ... he never limited me, and allowed a total freedom of expression. He always told me "Paint as you feel ... and see.

"All my paintings are the reflections of my inner world I see when closing my eyes. Some of visions came to me in my dreams."

"I have many brothers and sisters and being the eldest I have my duties and obligations. But my parents always tried to free me from house work. They respected my love that time of a small girl, for painting and I am deeply grateful to them for doing this."

"My mother, a construction worker, and my teacher of arts came from worlds apart, but both gave me a unique chance that time - to be myself, free inside and independent in my feelings and desires."
